Max Rodenbeck
I’m joined on this episode by journalist Max Rodenbeck, currently the South East Asia Bureau Chief for The Economist, based out of New Delhi. Max began his career in Cairo, and has since covered every major event affecting the region from the late 1980’s; so much so that in late 2010, Max predicted the seismic changes that were to come in Egypt the following year.
Max is not your usual spat. He grew up in Egypt from the age of 2, his wife is Egyptian and he has deep roots in the country. He is also the author of one of my favourite books, Cairo: The City Victorious.
This episode is brought to you by Marakez, Spaces for Life. Marakez is one of the largest mixed-use developers in Egypt that designs, builds and manages their own properties which have grown to become the heart and soul of the communities they serve.
