My conversation with Yasmine & Farida Khamis

This week, I’m excited to sit down with two guests today and take a deep dive into their lives’ most pivotal moments.

Yasmine and Farida Khamis are continuing the business legacy left by their father, Mohammed Farida Khamis. He launched Oriental Weavers in 1979, which has grown to become one of the world’s largest carpet manufacturers, employing more than 20,000 people today. Since his passing in 2020, Yasmine took over as Chair of the Board, while her two siblings joined her as board members. Farida chairs the petrochemical business and looks after the British University in Egypt.

As an only child, I'm always curious to peek behind the invisible veil that hangs between siblings. This is the third time I’ve spoken to sisters who also double up as business partners. Fatma and Amina Ghaly, now the second generation of luxury brand Azza Fahmy, joined me in 2019, while Mounaz and Aya Abdel Raouf, the sisters behind Okhtein were guests last year. And just like them the Khamis sisters have developed their own way of finding balance between work and family.
